THE WIZARD OF OZ ~ MOST FAMOUS MOVIE
The Wizard of Oz is a 1939 American musical fantasy film produced by Metro Goldwyn Mayer. It was directed primarily by Victor Fleming. Telecasts of The Wizard of Oz began in 1956, reintroducing the film to the public & eventually becoming an annual & holiday tradition, making it one of the most famous films ever made. The film was named the most watched motion picture in history by the Library of Congress, is often ranked among the Top 10 Best Movies of All Time in various critics' & popular polls. Today some of the film’s famous lines including "There's no place like home" & “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore” are well known to several generations of moviegoers & modern pop culture.

DOROTHY & TOTO ~ PLAYED BY JUDY GARLAND & TOTO TOO!
The Wizard Of Oz is based on the 1900 children's novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum 1856-1919. The film starred Judy Garland as the young Kansas farm girl Dorothy who, after being knocked unconscious in a tornado, dreams about following a yellow brick road with her dog Toto to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard of Oz. Along the way Dorothy encounters a cast of characters, including the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion & the Wicked Witch of the West. Though the scenes in Kansas were shot in traditional black & white, Oz appears in vivid Technicolor, a new film process at the time.

THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST ~ PLAYED BY MARGARET HAMILTON
The film also stars Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Frank Morgan, Billie Burke, Margaret Hamilton, Charles Grapewin, Clara Blandick, the Singer Munchkins' Midgets & let's not forget Dorothy's darling little dog Toto who was played by a female brindle Cairn Terrier actually renamed Toto.

YELLOW BRICK ROAD TO EMERALD CITY
The Wizard of Oz won two Academy Awards & was nominated for Best Picture of the Year losing to the Civil War era epic Gone with the Wind. The film was MGM's most expensive production up to that time. The beautiful song 'Over the Rainbow' won the Academy Award for Best Original Song which became Judy Garland's signature song. The film received several Academy Award nominations, including a special award at that year's Oscar ceremony for Best Juvenile Performer.

WORLD TRADE CENTER BEFORE 9/11

This photo was taken of the Twin Towers 9/10/01 the day before 9/11. The sun's reflection appears to form a sparkling cross between the towers. The clouds & jet contrails also form crosses in the sky. So innocently beautiful, now an incredible remembrance.

I personally awoke from a nightmare in the wee hours of 9/11 remembering a dream of looking up at a beautiful blue sky & the clouds forming the words 'Death will come from above'. I'm always having dreams with specific meanings, but this dream really freaked me out. I turned on the TV & checked the news, nothing... I turned on my computer to search the Internet & the #1 North Twin Tower had been hit. I thought I was still dreaming, but I wasn't. Finally the TV news started broadcasting with visuals of the North Tower on fire.

My hubby who's hometown is Manhattan New York was working on his computer when I called for him to come quickly & see the New York news bulletin showing one of the Twin Tower's had been hit by a 767 jet plane. When suddenly the second Twin Tower was hit by another 767 jet plane. With tears rolling down our faces we began praying for all those in harms way. Watching this live was a nightmare & we will NEVER FORGET.

We are still praying for all those innocent victims of 9/11. An American tragedy that will forever be in our hearts, minds & history books. Nearly 3,000 victims died in the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon & White House. According to the New York State Health Department a total of 836 responders, including firefighters & police personnel died that day. Our hearts & prayers go out to the Victims, Families & the Heroes that lost their lives trying to save others from eminent death.

9/11 is a very sad day in history & we will never forget the hardship & tears of all those concerned. Through the rebuilding of American faith & dreams we will always over come. As for today we would rather remember the memory of an amazing American Feat & Icon ~ The World Trade Center.

The original World Trade Center (WTC) was a complex of seven buildings in Lower Manhattan in New York City. At the time of their completion, the first World Trade Center & the second World Trade Center known as the Twin Towers were the tallest buildings in the world, surpassing the Empire State Building which is also in Manhattan.

The World Trade Center seven building complex was located in the heart of New York City's downtown financial district. The seven buildings were:
#1 WTC The North Tower included Windows On The World Restaurant located 106th &107th floors
#2 WTC The South Tower included Top Of The World Observation Deck located 107th & 110th floors
#3 WTC Marriott Hotel
#4 WTC Office Building
#5 WTC Office Building & E Train Subway Terminal
#6 WTC United States Customs House
#7 WTC Office Building above a Con Ed Power Station elevated walkway connecting to the WTC Plaza.

The World Trade Center gift shops had beautiful collectibles & keepsakes from before 9/11. Incredible memorabilia that so many visitors & collectors loved. Before these collectibles were discontinued, we obtained what collectibles we could from the companies that provided the WTC gift shops. We stored them for 10 years & decided that on the tenth memorial of the 9/11 WTC we would present them once again. Every WTC collectible we are offering is a beautiful vintage Pre-9/11 WTC Twin Tower Treasure. As collectors ourselves, we hope you'll love & treasure this collection as we do!

EAST NEW YORK CITY ~ BROOKLYN BRIDGE ~ MANHATTAN BRIDGE
The Top Of The World Trade Center Observatory was located in the WTC South Twin Tower #2. It had an indoor & outdoor observation deck that delivered a 360 degree view of New York City, allowing visitors to see up to 50 miles away with clear skies. Once purchasing the Top Of The World Trade Center Observatory admission tickets, spectators were taken on a six minute virtual helicopter ride heading out of Verrazano Bridge, flying over Central Park, through Times Square & back to the World Trade Center buildings. Kiosks were located at various points in the exhibit verbally explaining the displays in a number of languages. The Top Of The World Trade Center Observatory was complete with gift shops, a pro shop even a food stand structured like a subway car advertising Sbarro & Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs.

NORTH NYC ~ EMPIRE STATE BUILDING IN THE FAR DISTANCE
From the 107th floor, visitors took an escalator to the 110th floor to experience breath taking views of all of Manhattan. A view from the 110th floor of the World Trade Center South Tower was unlike any other with sights of Rockerfeller Center, the Met Life Building, the Citigroup Center the Chrysler Building & the Empire State Building. Although there was an anti-suicide fence built to protect patrons from falling or jumping, it did not obstruct the observatory’s spectacular views.

AUGUST 23 2001
This is the Adult Admission Ticket purchased just 19 days prior to 9/11. This ticket was printed inside the WTC before the tragedy. All remaining tickets & the printer used to print them were destroyed on 9/11. This is an unused WTC Ticket complete with the original perforated attached stub. Mint unused tickets are very rare as most were used to visit the World Trade Center Observation Deck.

The tickets came in two types: Adult & Child. Most tickets purchased were the adult tickets & therefore there is an approximate 10 to 1 ratio of adult to children tickets that were ordered. This makes the Child ticket incredibly rare & even more valuable!

When the Twin Towers were destroyed on 9/11 the Top Of The World Trade Center preferred agent 'Piccolo Gift Shop, Inc.' was left with unsold tickets & in desperate need of funds. Before the tragedy they sold WTC tickets individually & as part of a special tour package. To help keep their business viable they sold these tickets & this WTC ticket is from their collection.

We are selling this adult ticket as well as the rare child's ticket in our eBay store. This comes with a copy of Phil Piccolo's Validation Statement (Mr. Piccolo is president of Piccolo Gift Shop, Inc.) & a copy of the Piccolo Gift Shop Receipt Statement.

If the 70s were a car, Farrah Fawcett would have been the hood ornament. Somehow, in a cultural moment that could not have been predicted & is unlikely to be reproduced ~ The billowing-blonde daughter of Texas, star of a classic campy TV show Charlies Angels, wife of actor Lee Majors & owner of one of the 20th century's most influential hairdos captured the public imagination & became an overnight sensation. Men wanted to meet her, women wanted to dress like her & 12 million teenagers around the world from Auckland to Zanzibar bought her poster which is still the best-selling in history.

MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON ~ AUGUST 29 1958 - JUNE 25 2009
Michael Jackson was an American recording artist, dancer, singer-songwriter, musician, & philanthropist. Michael was & will always be the King of Pop, he is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by Guinness World Records. PRINCESS DIANA ROYAL WEDDING RING HISTORY

DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES 1961 ~ 1997
Created by Garrards of London in 1980, the ring featured a spectacular 12 carat oval Ceylon Sapphire surrounded by 14 solitaire brilliant cut diamonds & set in 18 carat white gold. Urban legend says that Princess Diana selected the ring because it was 'The Biggest & Most Gorgeous' in a tray of rings sent over by Garrards.

PRINCE CHARLES & LADY DIANA ~ THE ROYAL ENGAGEMENT
The Princess herself was later quoted as saying that the ring was selected by Queen Elizabeth & Prince Charles. Princess Diana & Prince Charles' Royal Wedding was July 29th 1981.

PRINCESS DIANA, PRINCE WILLIAM & PRINCE HARRY
Prince William inherited the beautiful Royal Wedding Ring after the passing of his mother Princess Diana. The ring was later given to Kate Middleton on the occasion of her engagement to Prince William.

July 29th 1965 the Beatles' second film Help! had it's world premiere at the London Pavilion at the Piccadilly Circus. August & September 1965 the movie Help! premiered at a limited number of theaters in the USA. Waaaaay before there was MTV, there was 'A Hard Days Night' & 'Help!'

The movie poked fun at the British spy film genre made famous by the James Bond films. Help! featured the far-fetched comedic plot of a group of far-eastern fundamentalists who are trying to retrieve a 'sacrificial ring' that a member of their congregation had sent to Ringo in a fan letter. Throughout the film, the Beatles are chased through London, the Austrian Alps & the Bahamas by both the religious cult & a pair of bumbling scientists who are convinced that possessing the ring would enable them to rule the world.

Help! not only heavily influenced The Monkees' TV show which debuted the following year, but it really did helped pave the way for MTV with its clever use of separate song clips throughout the movie.

John Lennon told Rolling Stone in 1970 that it was Dick Lester, who had also directed the group's first movie 'A Hard Day's Night', who had complete control of the film. Lennon recalled, "The movie was out of our control. With A Hard Day's Night, we had a lot of input & it was semi-realistic. I realize now that it was a precursor to Batman's 'POW!' 'WOW!' But Dick Lester never explained that to us." Lennon said in that same interview that he & the rest of the group "Felt like extras in our own film."

During the making of The Beatles' Anthology in 1992 Paul McCartney joked that "I'm not sure anyone knew the script. I think we used to learn it on the way to the set."

Ultimately Help! which was originally titled 'Eight Arms To Hold You' is remembered for the groovy classic Beatle songs featured in the film including 'Help!, The Night Before, Ticket To Ride & I Need You.'

Two weeks after the premiere on August 15th, the Beatles kicked off their triumphant 1965 USA summer tour in New York City's Shea Stadium performing their biggest show yet for 55,500 screaming fans.

BEATLES CONCERT TICKET COLLECTINGCollecting USA Beatles Concert Tickets during the past few years has taken off. Beatles tickets are continuing their climb in value based on scarcity, high demand & especially true for near mint to mint condition unused examples of certain shows. Investments in these tickets range from a few hundred dollars to several hundred dollars. Some auction houses have even sold Beatles mint complete unused tickets in the thousands of dollars.

It is difficult to find full tickets from any of the Beatles 1964 or 1965 shows as most of those concerts were completely sold out. In 1966 amid controversy, the Beatles played huge sports arenas for the most part & although they were successful, not all sold out leaving full tickets for Beatles collectors to enjoy decades later in their unused glory. The Beatles sold more than one million tickets for their live USA appearances.

Most Beatles tickets are priced & evaluated separately & as with all collectibles condition is very important. Folds, stains, tears & any writing reduces the value & usually lowers the desirability of any ticket. Stubs are worth a fraction of the value of the same full ticket, but even that varies depending on the remaining portion & what information or pictures can be seen.

Beatles Concert Tickets unlike massed produced commercial products were only available regionally & in most cases are somewhat difficult to find. The printing of the tickets themselves was a fairly complex process that sometimes required many passes through various printing presses. Ticket manufacturers like Globe used to require at least 2 weeks to complete a print job. If the promoter were presenting more than one show by the Beatles another batch of tickets would be printed in the same way but with a different date or time & some form of distinct marking to assist in recognizing it as a ticket for the other performance.

There are no known complete Beatles ticket sets in collectors hands even if you count stubs! With over 500 different ticket variations issued in the USA even the most advanced collectors have barely put a dent into having them all. Some have focused on collecting just one ticket or stub per show cutting the required variations to 73. Others concentrate on certain years or venues.

Ticket collecting & demand will continue to grow especially while it is still possible to find some nice mint unused tickets. There are still several cities in which no known full unused tickets have turned up although the list is shrinking as several previously undiscovered tickets turned up in the late 1990s. Promoters of these Beatles Concerts had held onto unsold tickets & in the 1990s offered them for sale.

SUFFOLK DOWNS 1966 CONCERT TICKET INFORMATIONUnused tickets for this show exists due to the fact that Suffolk Downs is a horse racetrack & large portions on either side of the 25,000 center seating area were cordoned off & not intended to be sold. The printer however, made tickets for all of the seats. This is an unusual case where there were a large quantity of full tickets available from a 'SOLD OUT' show. In 1984 a box of these tickets were discovered in Gerald Robert's (Beatles Concert Producer) attic in his Massachusetts home which was in the process of being sold.

MARILYN MONROE CALENDAR HISTORYIn 1946 Norma Jean began using the stage name Marilyn Monroe, but did not legally change her name until February 23, 1956. During the 1940s Marilyn was modeling & posing for pinup calendars as well as magazine covers. The 1947 calendar entitled The Right Number ~ Sunoco is one of her first pinup calendar appearances. This calendar pre-dates the famous Tom Kelly session.

MARILYN MONROE CHAMPION CALENDAR CAUGHT SHORT 1953
Between the production of Love Happy in 1949 & its release in the spring of 1950, Marilyn hit her lowest point financially. With no film work on the horizon & few modeling prospects Marilyn could not make ends meet. Desperate for cash she agreed to pose completely nude for photographer Tom Kelley on the condition that his wife Natalie be present during the session. Marilyn was only paid $50.00 for the photo session.

MARILYN MONROE CHAMPION CALENDAR COMING OUT ON TOP 1954
On May 27, 1949 Marilyn posed for the calendar photograph that would one day make her a household name. She signed the release form 'Mona Monroe' in a halfhearted effort to mask her identity. Kelley produced 24 transparencies of two basic poses, one a full-length profile of Marilyn lying on red velvet, the other a seated Marilyn with her head tossed back & legs tucked beneath her.

MARILYN MONROE RED VELVET SITTINGContrary to popular belief the full-length profile shot entitled 'A New Wrinkle' became the original calendar photo. The second pose titled 'Golden Dreams' became the most popular of the two appearing on calendars, decks of cards, key chains, toy TV viewers, coasters, trays, glasses & a host of other collectibles. In December of 1953 'Golden Dreams' was used to launch the premiere issue of Hugh Hefner's Playboy magazine.

In March 1952, wire journalist Aline Mosby broke the story that starlet Marilyn Monroe was the nude calendar girl. Most 1953 calendars were produced with Marilyn Monroe's name on them. Some were printed Marilyn Monroe & others were printed Posed By Marilyn Monroe. A few rare 1953 calendars do not have her name on them because they used 1952 lithographic prints. All Golden Dreams calendars produced after 1953 have the Marilyn Monroe name on them.

* PROVENANCE: This oil painting was purchased from Linda Grimm’s Horse Museum. Linda Grimm acquired this painting from Nick Morris Davis the only grandson of George Ford Morris. Nick inherited this painting from his mother Patricia Morris Davis the only daughter of GFM. Patricia Morris inherited this painting from her father George Ford Morris. In short, this GFM beautiful horse oil painting is from the estate of George Ford Morris' own personal collection.

GEORGE FORD MORRIS BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
American born 1873 Joseph, Missouri died in 1960 Arcadia, California. George Ford Morris was the foremost American equestrian artist of his time. He documented the fast changing world of the horse in American history in the early to mid 20th century. He was equally talented as a painter, sculptor, illustrator & lithographer. He was mainly self taught but attended classes at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1888 & later at the Academie Julien in Paris 1925. In the early twentieth century, Morris worked mainly from his Thirty-third Street studio in New York City.

Concentrating almost solely upon the art of the horse, George Ford Morris was a frequent contributing artist to such publications as 'The American Horseman', 'Breeder's Gazette', 'American Field', 'National Horseman' & 'Thoroughbred of California'. He also illustrated for national publications such as 'Scribner's' & 'Century' magazines. Horse Study was commissioned by the Associated American Artists of New York in 1945. The Associated American Artists was created in the mid 1930s & commissioned original graphic art from such great American masters as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh & many others. Besides Horse Study, Morris published at least two other original lithographs with the A.A.A. during the 1940s decade. All A.A.A. works of art were published in editions ranging from 125 to 250 signed impressions.

In 1952 Morris published 'Portraitures of Horses' considered The Horse Book of the Century. An amazing collection of his portraitures & sketches spanning over 40 years of his work. Needless to say these books have become high collectibles in the horse world. The pages are full of images of top Saddlebreds, Arabians, Show Hacks, GFM's own horses, pet dogs & more, creating a chronicle album of Town & Country Americana.

George Ford Morris is most remembered for his portraiture of the American Saddlebred. His documentation of the rise of this breed with its foundation stock is quite remarkable. George Ford Morris' work remains the most sought after still in the 21st century.

FIRENZE AKA FIRENZI BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Firenze 1884–1902, also recorded as "Firenzi,", was an American Thoroughbred Champion & Hall of Fame filly racehorse. The New York Times called Firenze: "...one of the greatest distaffers of the 19th Century." Foaled at Elmendorf Farm in Lexington, Kentucky, Firenze was sold by owner/breeder Daniel Swigert to lawyer & businessman James Ben Ali Haggin. Under trainer Matt Byrnes, Firenze became the second filly in American Thoroughbred racing history to earn more than $100,000 in purse money & was voted the retrospective American Champion Older Female Horse for four straight years.

Although a small horse at just 15 hands, Firenze was noted for her stamina. She competed in up to twenty or more races a year & frequently at distances of 1 to 2 miles. However, what makes her performances so remarkable is that she repeatedly defeated the top colts of the day including the Dwyer Brothers Stable's two future Hall of Fame colts, Hanover & Kingston. As well, in the 1888 season, she was the only horse to beat A. J. Cassatt's Preakness Stakes winner & son of the great Longfellow, The Bard.

Firenze won the mile & a half Freehold Stakes three straight years between 1888 & 1890. Run at the Long Branch Racetrack in New Jersey, Firenze was so feared that in the 1889 no owner would enter their horse against her & she won in a walkover. At her retirement Firenze had achieved the second highest earnings for a filly in American history. Miss Woodford won more & Yo Tambien won a bit less.

Firenze began racing at age two & competed through age seven, retiring to her owner's Rancho Del Paso stud farm near Sacramento California. As a broodmare her own progeny, including those sired by her Hall of Fame stablemate Salvator achieved only modest success in racing but several of her fillies were successful as broodmares. Firenze died in 1902 at Rancho Del Paso. In 1981, she was inducted into the National Museum of Racing & Hall of Fame.

This beautiful oil painting 'Firenze The Race Mare' is extremely valuable because it was not only painted by GFM but it was part of George Ford Morris' own personal art collection. VERY RARE INDEED!!!

1. Farrah Leni Fawcett ~ February 2, 1947 – June 25, 2009, was an American actress & artist. A multiple Golden Globe & Emmy Award nominee, Farrah rose to international fame when she first appeared as private investigator Jill Munroe in the first season of the TV series Charlie's Angels in 1976. She won a People's Choice Award for Favorite Performer in a New TV Program ~ Charlie's Angels. 3. Farrah was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, the younger of two daughters. Her mother, Pauline Alice (née Evans), was a homemaker & her father, James William Fawcett, was an oil field contractor. She was of French, English & Choctaw Native American ancestry. Her name 'Farrah' was made up by her mother because it went well with their last name.

4. A devout Roman Catholic, Farrah's early education was at the parish school of the church her family attended, St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Corpus Christi. She graduated from W. B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi in 1965. Farrah attended the University of Texas at Austin 1965 – 1968 living one semester in Jester Center as sister of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. 5. During the 1960s - 1970s Farrah appeared in TV commercials for consumer products, including Noxzema shaving cream, Ultra Brite toothpaste, Wella Balsam shampoo & the 1975 Mercury Cougar. In 1978, after achieving TV stardom, she developed her own brand of hair care products, marketed by Fabergé, for which she also appeared in a series of commercials & print ads.

6. Fawcett's first TV series appearance was a guest spot on I Dream of Jeannie in the 1968 – 1969 season, followed by guest appearances in Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law. The miniseries Small Sacrifices earned her a second Emmy nomination & her sixth Golden Globe Award nomination. During the 2000s she continued to work on TV programs like Spin City & The Guardian, her work on the latter show earning her a third Emmy nomination.

8. Farrah's first magazine cover was the 1975 Cosmopolitan & she appeared on many magazine covers there after. In December 1995 she posed seminude in Playboy, which became the best-selling issue of the 1990s, with over four million copies sold worldwide. At the age of 50, she returned to Playboy with a pictorial for the July 1997 issue, which also became a top seller. 9. Farrah was married to Lee Majors, star of TV's The Six Million Dollar Man, from 1973 - 1982. Romantically involved with actor Ryan O'Neal from 1982 - 1997. The relationship produced a son, Redmond James Fawcett O'Neal, born January 1985 in Los Angeles. While filming her reality TV show in 2005 'Chasing Farrah' she became romantically involved again with Ryan O'Neal.

10. Farrah was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006 & began treatment, including chemotherapy & surgery. Four months later on her 60th birthday, the Associated Press wire service reported that Farrah was at that point cancer free. In 2007 the cancer returned, aided by her friend Alana Stewart, Farrah documented her battle with the disease. The two-hour documentary Farrah's Story, aired on NBC on May 15, 2009. The documentary was watched by nearly nine million people at its premiere airing & it was re-aired on the broadcast network's cable stations MSNBC, Bravo & Oxygen. Farrah earned her fourth Emmy nomination posthumously on July 16, 2009, as producer of Farrah's Story. WOW, today is April 22 the milestone 40th EARTH DAY Anniversary. In honor of this noble cause please plant a notion & pass these tips on, you might just save a Jaguar in a beautiful Rainforest!

GOING GREEN doesn't have to be a daunting task that means sweeping life changes. Simple things can make a huge difference. The contents of this list might not be new but they bear repeating. Sometimes it takes a few reminders for things to take root...

1. CHANGE YOUR LIGHT BULB
If every household in the United States replaced one regular light bulb with one new compact fluorescent bulb, the pollution reduction would be equivalent to removing one million cars from the road. If you don't like the color of the fluorescent light use these bulbs for closets, laundry rooms, etc.

2. TURN OFF COMPUTERS AT NIGHT
By turning off your computer instead of leaving it in sleep mode you can save 40 watt-hours per day. That adds up to 5.25 cents a day or around $20.00 per year. If you don't want to wait for your computer to start up, set it to turn on automatically.

3. DON'T RINSE
Skip rinsing dishes before using your dishwasher, saving up to 20 gallons of water each load & saves time & the energy used to heat the additional water.

4. DO NOT PREHEAT THE OVEN
Unless you are making bread or pastries of some sort don't preheat the oven. Just turn it on when you put the dish in. When checking on your food, look through the oven window instead of opening the door.

5. RECYCLE GLASS
Recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20 percent & related water pollution by 50 percent. If it isn't recycled it can take a million years to decompose.

6. PARENTS DIAPER WITH A CONSCIENCE
By the time a child is toilet trained a parent will change between 5,000 - 8,000 diapers adding up to approximately 3.5 million tons of waste in US landfills each year. Whether you choose cloth or a more environmentally friendly disposable you're making a choice that has a much gentler impact on our planet.

7. HANG DRY
Get a clothesline or rack to dry your clothes by the air. Your wardrobe will maintain color, fit & you'll save money. Your favorite tee shirt will last longer too.

8. GO VEGETARIAN ONCE A WEEK
One less meat based meal a week helps the planet & your diet. For example: It requires 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. You will also save some trees. For each hamburger that originated from animals raised on rainforest land, approximately 55 square feet of forest have been destroyed. We are pretty much Vegans now & grow our own fruits & vegetables...

9. WASH IN COLD OR WARM
If all the households in the US switched from the hot-hot cycle to warm-cold, we could save the energy comparable to 100,000 barrels of oil a day. Only launder when you have a full load.

10. USE ONE LESS PAPER NAPKIN
During an average year an American uses approximately 2,200 napkins, around six each day. If everyone in the US used one less napkin a day, more than a billion pounds of napkins could be saved from landfills each year.

11. USE BOTH SIDES OF PAPER
American businesses throw away 21 million tons of paper every year equal to 175 pounds per office worker. For a quick & easy way to cut this in half set your printer's default option to print double sided (duplex printing). And when you're finished with your documents don't forget to take them to the recycling bin.

12. RECYCLE NEWSPAPER
There are 63 million newspapers printed each day in the US Of these, 44 million or about 69%, of them will be thrown away. Recycling just the Sunday papers would save more than half a million trees every week.

13. WRAP CREATIVELY
You can reuse gift bags, bows & event paper but you can also make something unique by using old maps, cloth or even newspaper. Flip a paper grocery bag inside out & give your child stamps or markers to create their own wrapping paper that's environmentally friendly & extra special for the recipient. 14. RETHINK BOTTLED WATER
Nearly 90% of plastic water bottles are not recycled, instead taking thousands of years to decompose. Buy a reusable container & fill it with filtered tap water, a great choice for the environment, your wallet & possibly your health. The EPA's standards for tap water are more stringent than the FDA's standards for bottled water.

15. BAN BATH TIME!
Have a no-bath week & take showers instead. Baths require almost twice as much water. Not only will you reduce water consumption but the energy costs associated with heating the water.

16. BRUSH WITHOUT RUNNING
You've heard this one before, but maybe you still do it. You'll conserve up to five gallons per day if you stop. Daily savings in the US alone could add up to 1.5 billion gallons, more water than folks use in the Big Apple.

17. SHOWER WITH YOUR PARTNER
Sneak in a shower with your loved one to start the day with some zest that doesn't come in a bar of soap. Not only have you made a wise choice for the environment but you may notice some other added...um...benefits.

18. TAKE A SHORTER SHOWER
Every two minutes you save on your shower can conserve more than ten gallons of water. If everyone in the country saved just one gallon from their daily shower over the course of the year it would equal twice the amount of freshwater withdrawn from the Great Lakes every day.

19. PLANT A TREE
It's good for the air, the land, can shade your house & save on cooling (plant on the west side of your home). Trees can also improve the value of your property. Make it meaningful for the whole family & plant a tree every year for each member.

20. USE YOUR CRUISE CONTROL
You paid for those extra buttons in your car so put them to work! When using cruise control your vehicle could get up to 15% better mileage. Considering today's gasoline prices this is a boon not only for the environment but your budget as well.

21. SECOND HAND DOESN'T MEAN SECOND BEST
Consider buying items from a second hand store. Toys, bicycles, roller blades & other age size specific items are quickly outgrown. Second hand stores often sell these items in excellent condition since they are used for such a short period of time & will generally buy them back when you no longer need them. We love finding treasures in our local second hand stores...

22. BUY LOCAL
Consider the amount of pollution created to get your food from the farm to your table. Whenever possible buy from local farmers or farmers' markets supporting your local economy & reducing the amount of greenhouse gas created when products are flown or trucked in. Our local farmers use less pesticides too.

23. ADJUST YOUR THERMOSTAT
Adjust your thermostat one degree higher in the summer & one degree cooler in the winter. Each degree Celsius less will save about 10% on your energy use! In addition invest in a programmable thermostat which allows you to regulate temperature based on the times you are at home or away.

24. INVEST IN YOUR OWN COFFEE CUP
If you start every morning with a steamy cup a quick tabulation can show you that the waste is piling up. Invest in a reusable cup which not only cuts down on waste, but keeps your beverage hot for a much longer time. Most coffee shops will happily fill your own cup & many even offer you a discount in exchange!

25. BATCH ERRANDS
Feel like you spend your whole week trying to catch up with the errands? Take a few moments once a week to make a list of all the errands that need to get done & see if you can do them in one trip. Not only will you be saving gasoline but you might find yourself with much better time management skills.

26. TURN OFF LIGHTS
Always turn off incandescent bulbs when you leave a room. Fluorescent bulbs are more affected by the number of times it is switched on & off, so turn them off when you leave a room for 15 minutes or more. You'll save energy on the bulb itself but also on cooling costs, as lights contribute heat to a room.

27. GREENER LAWN CARE
If you must water your lawn do it early in the morning before any moisture is lost to evaporation. Have a few weeds? Spot treat them with vinegar. Not sure if you should rake? Normal clippings act as a natural fertilizer, let them be. If you've waited too long rake by hand, it's excellent exercise.

28. PICNIC WITH A MARKER
Some time in between the artichoke dip & the coleslaw you lost track of your cup & now there are a sea of matching cups on the table, one of which might be yours. The next time you picnic set out a permanent marker next to disposable dinnerware so guests can mark their cup & everyone will only use one.

29. RECYCLE OLD CELL PHONES
The average cell phone lasts around 18 months which means 130 million phones will be retired each year. If they go into landfills the phones & their batteries introduce toxic substances into our environment. There are plenty of reputable programs where you can recycle your phone, many which benefit noble causes.

30. MAINTAIN YOUR VEHICLE
Not only are you extending the life of your vehicle but you are creating less pollution & saving gas. A properly maintained vehicle, clean air filters & inflated tires can greatly improve your vehicle's performance. And it might not hurt to clean out the trunk too, all that extra weight could be costing you at the pump.

31. RECYCLE UNWANTED WIRE HANGERS
Wire hangers are generally made of steel, which is often not accepted by some recycling programs. So what do you do with them? Most dry cleaners will accept them back to reuse or recycle. Remember Joan Crawford's famous line in Mommie Dearest: NO WIRE HANGERS, EVER!

32. RECYCLE ALUMINUM AND GLASS
Twenty recycled aluminum cans can be made with the energy it takes to manufacture one brand new one. Every ton of glass recycled saves the equivalent of nine gallons of fuel oil needed to make glass from virgin materials.

33. TELECOMMUTE
See if you can work out an arrangement with your employer that you work from home for some portion of the week. Not only will you save money & gasoline, but you get to work in your pajamas!

34. KEEP YOUR FIREPLACE DAMPER CLOSED
Keeping the damper open (when you're not using your fireplace) is like keeping a 48-inch window wide open during the winter, it allows warm air to go right up the chimney. This can add up to hundreds of dollars each winter in energy loss.

35. CUT DOWN ON JUNK MAIL
Feel like you need to lose a few pounds? It might be your junk mail that's weighing you down. The average American receives 40 pounds of junk mail each year, destroying 100 millions trees. There are many services that can help reduce the clutter in your mailbox, saving trees & the precious space on your countertops.

36. CHOOSE MATCHES OVER LIGHTERS
Most lighters are made out of plastic & filled with butane fuel, both petroleum products. Since most lighters are considered 'disposable' over 1.5 billion end up in landfills each year. When choosing matches, pick cardboard over wood. Wood matches come from trees whereas most cardboard matches are made from recycled paper.

37. LET YOUR FINGERS DO THE WALKING ONLINE
Consider if you really need a paper phone book. If not, call to stop phone book delivery & use an online directory instead. Some estimate that telephone books make up almost ten percent of waste at dump sites. And if you still receive the book don't forget to recycle your old volumes.

38. GIVE IT AWAY
Before you throw something away, think about if someone else might need it. Either donate to a charitable organization or post it on a web site designed to connect people & things, such as FREECYCLE.ORG.

39. GO TO A CAR WASH
Professional car washes are often more efficient with water consumption. If everyone in the US who washes their car themselves took just one visit to the car wash we could save nearly 8.7 billion gallons of water.

40. PLASTIC BAGS SUCK
Each year the US uses 84 billion plastic bags a significant portion of the 500 billion used worldwide. They are not biodegradable & are making their way into our oceans & subsequently the food chain. Stronger reusable bags are an inexpensive & readily available option.

41. FLY WITH AN E-TICKET
The cost of processing a paper ticket is approximately $10, while processing an e-ticket costs only $1. In the near future, e-tickets will be the only option, saving the airline industry $3 billion a year. In addition to financial savings the sheer amount of paper eliminated by this process is commendable.

42. DOWNLOAD YOUR SOFTWARE
Most software comes on a compact disc & more than thirty-billion compact discs of all types are sold annually. That's a huge amount of waste, not to mention the associated packaging. Another bonus to downloading your software is that it's often available for download at a later date when you upgrade to a new computer or are attempting to recover from a crash.

43. STOP YOUR ANSWERING MACHINE
Answering machines use energy 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And when they break, they're just one more thing that goes into the landfill. If all answering machines in US homes were eventually replaced by voice mail services, the annual energy savings would total nearly two billion kilowatt-hours.

44. SKIP THE COFFEE STIRRER
Each year, Americans throw away 138 billion straws & stirrers. But skipping the stirrer doesn't mean drinking your coffee black. Simply put your sugar & cream in first then pour in the coffee & it should be well mixed. Determined to stir? Break off a piece of pasta from the cupboard. You can nibble after using it, compost, or throw away with less guilt.

45. FIND A BETTER WAY TO BREAK THE ICE
When a big winter storm heads our way most of us use some sort of ice melter to treat steps & sidewalks. While this makes the sidewalks safer for people, it may pose a hazard for pets who might ingest these products. Rock salt & salt based ice melting products can cause health problems as well as contaminate wells & drinking water. Look for a pet safe de-icer, readily available in many stores.

46. USE COTTON SWABS WITH A PAPERBOARD SPINDLE
Some brands of cotton swabs have a paperboard spindle while others are made of plastic. If 10% of US households switched to a paperboard spindle, the petroleum energy saved per year would be equivalent to over 150,000 gallons of gasoline. Q-Tips have paperboard spindles.

47. PAY BILLS ONLINE

The Roman Catholic holiday celebrating St. Patrick’s Day March 17th was & still is intended as a day of celebrating spiritual renewal & a day of prayer for missionaries the world over. St. Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland known for converting many Pagans to Christianity. St. Patrick's Day is a national holiday in Ireland & the island of Montserrat in the Caribbean, which was founded by Irish refugees. It is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland & a provincial holiday in the Canadian province of Newfoundland. That is common knowledge. Updated interesting facts & trivia about St. Patrick's Day below...

1 ~ St. Patrick the patron saint of Ireland was not born in Ireland, by all accounts he was born in Britain around 385 AD & died March 17, 461 AD. His parents Calpurnius & Conchessa were Roman citizens living in either Scotland or Wales, according to different versions of his story. St. Patrick is buried in Glastonbury where the Chapel of St. Patrick still stands.

2 ~ Although St. Patrick was known for having converted many Celtic Druids & Pagans to Christianity, he considered himself a Pagan until he was 16. He was taken captive by a roving band of Irish raiders & forced to work as a shepherd. Although his father was a deacon & his grandfather had been a priest the future saint was not a child of faith when he was taken captive. Sleeping outside with the animals he cared for his captivity brought forth a spiritual reawakening in him. Amidst Ireland's beautiful forests & mountains he turned to God for support & solace. Once he returned home he became a devout Christian missionary.

3 ~ The Shamrock a green three-leaf clover came to symbolize Ireland & became popular after the story that Saint Patrick used the Shamrock to teach the people of Ireland about the Trinity. While Shamrock Green is the color associated with St. Patrick’s Day, his chosen color was actually blue. Green was even considered an unlucky color in Ireland until the 19th century. Most images of St. Patrick dating before the 20th century show him donning blue garments. Today wearing green, eating green food & even drinking green beer is said to commemorate St. Patrick's use of the Shamrock.

4 ~ Miracles & Legends surround St. Patrick’s having driven snakes out of Ireland, but evidence suggests post glacial Ireland never had any snakes in the first place. It is believed that the snakes were simply a metaphor relating to the Pagans that he helped convert.

6 ~ St. Patrick’s given name was Maewyn Succat. St. Patrick's name was changed to Patricius meaning "Father Of The Citizens".

7 ~ St. Patrick was said to have proclaimed that everyone should have a drop of the "Hard Stuff" on his feast day after chastising an innkeeper who served a short measure of whiskey. In the custom known as "Drowning The Shamrock", the shamrock that has been worn on a lapel or hat is put in the last drink of the evening. Although a widely celebrated drinking holiday in the United States this was not the case in Ireland. In fact the pubs in Ireland were ordered closed in remembrance of St. Patrick’s Day until the 1970s.

8 ~ The traditional St. Patrick’s Day meal was Irish bacon & potatoes. Corned beef & cabbage was substituted as it was less expensive.

9 ~ The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place not in Ireland but in the United States. Irish soldiers serving in the British military marched through New York City on March 17, 1762. In 1780, General George Washington, who commanded soldiers of Irish descent in the Continental Army allowed his troops a holiday on March 17th “As an act of solidarity with the Irish in their fight for independence". Today, Dublin Ireland has a parade that attracts hundreds of thousands of people, while in Chicago the river is dyed green for a few hours. The biggest parade is normally held in New York, while the largest celebration in the southern hemisphere is in Sydney Australia.

St. Gertrude was the Patron Saint of Cats, Gardeners & Herbalists. Fine weather on her feast day means it's time for planting. St. Gertrude was also patron of those seeking lodging because her monastery was known for its hospitality to travelers & pilgrims, especially the Irish missionaries. My Birthday is always a fabulous & fun holiday for us (including all our fur babies too)!

* Four 48 Oz Cans ~ Pineapple Juice
* One 96 Oz Bottle ~ Orange Juice
* Four 2 Liter Bottles ~ Lemon-Lime Soda
* One 1.75 Liter Bottle ~ Vodka
* One 1.75 Liter Bottle ~ Rum

* Pour everything into your cauldron, stir well. Measurements are approximate. Adjust to your own taste & ENJOY!
* Don't forget to add chunks of dry ice to create the bubbling steam effect. Most supermarkets & ice cream stores sell dry ice.
* WARNING ~ Dry ice is extremely cold & can burn human flesh. NEVER drink, eat or have any direct contact with dry ice!

The Woodstock dove is really a catbird; originally, it perched on a flute. "I was staying on Shelter Island off Long Island & I was drawing catbirds all the time," said artist Arnold Skolnick. "As soon as Ira Arnold (a copywriter on the project) called with the copy-approved 'Three Days of Peace & Music', I just took the razor blade & cut that catbird out of the sketchpad I was using. "First, it sat on a flute. I was listening to jazz at the time & I guess that's why. But anyway, it sat on a flute for a day & I finally ended up putting it on a guitar."

This is one of my favorite songs that captures the mellow feel of the times about a breakup. Not at all depressing because it captures that feeling to be free & full of love. One of the most sweet sounding vocal harmonies & acoustic guitar songs you'll ever hear.

* 3 PROUD MARY by Creedence Clearwater Revival
It's one of their songs that many other artists have played over the years. The line "People on the river are happy to give" really captures the hippie spirit of sharing & caring for one another.

Everyone was dancing to the music at Woodstock & while Sly doesn't look like your typical hippie musician his performance at Woodstock was infused with a little funky soul.

It's a song that has gone on to define the 60s & the defiant but peaceful culture of the era. Seeing how the generation before them viewed their new way of thinking "I hope I die before I get old" was a line many young people at Woodstock identified with.

The 60's was an era full of Alices falling down the rabbit hole & Woodstock was the perfect Wonderland. Grace Slick's powerful voice complemented the psychedelic music perfectly. This song will definitely take you on a trip to that whole different world 'The Psychedelic 60s'.

A smile is the same language all over the world & this song says it all. Free & easy harmonies with smooth guitar riffs. I can imagine watching the clouds go by at Woodstock while this song played on... It was time for our troops to pull out of Vietnam & I think that's what CSN&Y meant with their last words of the song that were "You don't need us... I think I'll set a course & go".

* 9 SPINNING WHEEL by Blood, Sweat & Tears
Like 'White Rabbit' it's one of the songs that captured the feeling of many of those in the crowd attempting to enhance their Woodstock experience with psychedelic music, imagery & great smokes.

Jimi Hendrix performs the national anthem with a touch of guitar voodoo. This is one of those songs that can never be played again, Jimi Hendrix just did things with his guitar that cannot be duplicated. When he went right from the 'Star Spangled Banner' into 'Purple Haze', it was the defining moment of what Woodstock was all about.

My September Playlist was dedicated to these top ten songs of Woodstock plus more of the favorites from Woodstock like CSN&Y's amazing iconic song 'Woodstock' about joining in a Rock N' Roll band. (Each month my Playlist changes for the season). I really had fun celebrating this year's 40th Anniversary of Woodstock with these great songs that captured the spirit of the 60's.

We will never have another Woodstock. However these great songs will continue to capture the imaginations of generation after generation of those who share a LOVE of PEACE & MUSIC.

FATHER'S DAY MEMORIES AT DISNEYLAND

My Dad & yes that's me with my Minnie Mouseketeer Ears getting ready for a trolley ride at Disneyland. Where did all the time go? I miss my wonderful Dad, he taught me to swim, ride like the wind on our horses, ride a bike, garden & so much more. He always said "Never lose your sense of humor".

Dad built his dream ranch in Woodland Hills California with beautiful horses & all. That's KC our gorgeous Bay Quarter Horse & Dad.

My father 'Ray Jewel Lutton' was the Lead Foreman at Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach & Torrance California for almost 30 years. He supervised 100s of aerospace workers that built DC 10s to the NASA Spacecraft's Apollo 11, 12 & 13. In this PIC Dad's receiving one of the many VIP awards that the Douglas Aircraft Corporation bestowed on him & his aerospace division.

Dad always reminisced about his days on his Mother & Father's Estate 'Captain Kellogg's home - George Washington's Captain' in Hartford Connecticut. The tales I could tell, but I'll need to find the photo albums & his diary. Next Father's Day, more memories, photos & his beautiful art work.

THE TRUTH BEHIND MOTHER'S DAY

Mother's Day is celebrated in the United States each year on the second Sunday of May. Mother's Day is relatively modern, being created at the start of the 20th century & should not be confused with the early Pagan & Christian traditions honoring mothers, or with the 16th century celebration of Mothering Sunday, which is also known as Mother's Day in the UK.

Anna Marie Jarvis 1864-1948 ~ Founder Of Mother's Day
Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis 1832-1905Anna's mother American Civil War Social Activist & mother of eleven
The holiday was created by Anna Jarvis as a day for each family to honor their mother. Mother's Day is celebrated on various days in many places around the world. It complements Father's Day, the celebration honoring fathers. Anna was twelve years old when Anna's mother said a class prayer in the presence of her daughter. "I hope that someone, sometime will found a memorial mother's day commemorating her for the matchless service she renders to humanity in every field of life. She is entitled to it." Anna never forgot this prayer. At her Mothers graveside service, she recalled the prayer & said, "By the grace of God, you shall have that Mother's Day."

On May 12, 1907, two years after Anna Jarvis' mother's death, she held a memorial to her mother & thereafter embarked upon a campaign to make 'Mother's Day' a recognized holiday. She succeeded in making this nationally recognized in 1914. The International Mother's Day Shrine was established in Grafton West Virginia to commemorate her accomplishment.

Unfortunately, By the 1920s, Anna Jarvis had become soured on the commercialization of the holiday. She incorporated herself as the Mother’s Day International Association, claimed copyright on the second Sunday of May & was once arrested for disturbing the peace. She & her sister Ellsinore spent their family inheritance campaigning against the holiday. Both died in poverty. Miss Jarvis' New York Times obituary said Anna had become embittered because too many people sent their mothers a printed greeting card. She said, "A printed card means nothing except that you are too lazy to write to the woman who has done more for you than anyone in the world. AND CANDY! You take a box to your mother & then eat most of it yourself. A pretty sentiment!" Anna Marie Jarvis never married & had no children.

Well, all I can tell you is my Mother 'Judy Lutton' loved her Mother's Day cards & gifts (Emeraude by Coty or Opium by YSL perfume). AND AS FOR CANDY... She insisted on a two pound box of her favorite See's Candies Dark Chocolates. That way if anyone ate her candy she would still have a pound all to herself.

My mother loved to dance, paint & her cooking was divine. Her parents (my grand parents) came through Ellis Island. They were hard working Polish & Russian immigrants opening up a little sidewalk food spot in Connecticut called Crystal Lake Sidewalk Cafe right on Crystal Lake. Mom & her three sisters were the waitresses. Mom met Dad at her family's little cafe & the rest is history. I guess you could say she waited on Dad & never stopped, LOL! Longing to be free & for the warm climate of California she & Dad 'Ray Lutton' ended up building their dream ranch in Woodland Hills California. Boy, I could ride a horse before I could swim. Those were the days when people could leave their doors & windows unlocked. Now your neighbors seem to lie in wait.

I miss my mother terribly. She was my best friend & always listened to the Perils of Lyndy. Happy Mother's Day in Heaven Mom! I think she & Dad are swinging on a moonbeam.

Hey new Mom's out there (being a piano teacher & music therapist myself) REMEMBER: You are your child's first teacher. So teach your children well! Especially, how to be kind & considerate to others. I'm a mother to my many fur babies which I love with all my heart.

THANK YOU for your very nice comment. Yes, I don't want some fly by night self publishing company, so I have decided on the Amazon Publishing Company. That way my black cat Halloween art book will be in the Amazon Book Stores (Including the Internet Book Stores) & in the public libraries, especially school libraries, etc.... This will cost quite a bit more, but well worth it because of the distribution considerations.

PLEASE REMEMBER, that I'm dealing with 50 + artists & not just my own personal black cat art work. I never in my wildest dreams thought I could write & publish an art book of this magnitude over night. It took time & loads of money (all on my credit cards) just to acquire this black cat OOAK Halloween art collection.

So keep good thoughts & good prayers for my book project to keep moving forward. It was always about my love for all my favorite black cat Halloween art & artists in the first place.

Financial resolutions are easy to get under control. Shop wisely, spend wisely as well. Try to save 10 cents for every dollar spent. Remember those old piggy banks? They work to help keep your spending in check too!

My husband & I are thinking of selling our home this New Year & moving into an apartment because of the financial crunch. My question is about my art, paintings, mine & my collection of over 1100 pieces. Should I store them at a storage facility or spend a little more on a two bedroom & keep them with us?

DEAR JENA BRISTOL,
WOW, that's quite a wonderful art collection. I'm not a fan of storage facilities, because our storage unit was burglarized. Yet, many years later our new home was also burglarized by different crooks. I still believe your art collection would be safer kept with you. We now have an extensive security system with cameras, alarms & armed patrol guards. AND I HAVE A BIG BLACK GERMAN SHEPHERD!

Make sure the art collection your not viewing on walls or showcases are kept wrapped in boxes or if over sized be sure to keep them paper wrapped with outside IDs & off any bare floors with carpet or carpet remnants (this protects them from warping). Two bedrooms, one for you & your husband & the other for art storage can also be used as an office if you add a little desk & chair.

My New Year Resolution is to quit being so naive about everything. Meaning I want to stop believing in people that constantly let me down. What can I do to be more knowledgeable about who's telling the truth?

That's a question I'm sure everyone would like to know the answer to. Everyone on this planet will encounter a not so upfront person sometime in their life. I have many times & there really is no real way to know if someone is truthful or just pretending to be. Try to keep the faith in your family & close circle of friends. Don't let the wise guys ruin your outlook on people in general.

If you watch & listen carefully, your inner spirit (soul) will be able to detect who's telling the truth or not. Especially if you yourself stay truthful as well. Karma has a way of letting you know when you need to stay on track in a positive direction.

It always amazes me when I hear horror stories of people deliberately hurting & taking advantaged of each other. That will only lead to their (& their children's) downfall in the long run. They can choose Heaven or the other & that can even be what they get right here on our beautiful planet. AND remember your children emanate you!

This is the second 2008 Southern California Firestorm & we had another Mandatory Evacuation. We were ready to leave with our fur babies if our surrounding property & house caught fire. We did not leave this time. We watered down all the burning embers & saved our home from any harm including looters. The police arrested five thieves in our area.

The house & pool are black from soot & we are sick from smoke inhalation, even though we had been wearing breathing safety masks. We're exhausted & depressed by the on going battle against the elements & those horrible people that take advantage of victims by burglarizing their neighborhoods. We have brown & black outs because the DWP lost electrical transformers & the noncompliance with conserving energy during these emergency times.

I've been told that my black cat art work is not OOAK, because I painted a similar black cat with a moon from a vintage Halloween postcard that was published in 1910. My art work has different colors, extra black cats & painted on a wooden plaque. Is this OOAK or not?

Yes your art work is OOAK. If you created an OOAK work of art from vintage postcards or vintage Halloween decorations from before 1923 than you created a OOAK work of art. No artist can lay claim to vintage postcard/decorative art that is out of copyright. 'Vintage Style' is today's Halloween art work.

AND you really are, actually I'd say you're a COPY CAT Artist! Your Halloween black cat art work is not OOAK! If you copied exactly an OOAK work of art from one of your peers either in the same medium or different medium with some minor changes than you have committed copyright infringement.

I've used stencils that were custom made for me on my Halloween art work. Every art work is different. Never the same twice & I add depth to the stencils so that they do not look like any stencils have been utilized. Is using a custom made stencil considered OOAK?

The funny thing is even if you used custom made stencils for your artwork, but added more than 50% to reflect your own concept in most OOAK Art World's this is still considered Original. OOAK means Original One Of A Kind, meaning not another exact art piece was created. It should be stated on the COA or art sale/auction that you have custom made stencils that you have incorporated on the art work.

* MORE OOAK ARTWORK EXAMPLES:
(These rules are used when the artist is you & not interpreting another's art work).
* An exact blue sky art piece & a red sky art piece would be considered OOAK.
* An exact black cat on a bowl & the same black cat on a plate is not OOAK, it must have added embellishments.
* Different brush strokes or acrylic VS. water color on the same exact piece on different mediums is not considered OOAK.
* Larger VS. smaller on the same exact piece is not considered OOAK.
* Different colors is considered OOAK, but really should have different embellishments.

In today's failing economy any employment to help make ends meet is imperative. You should never give up creating your art work. VINCA MAJOR THE MAGICKAL PLANT

Yes, VINCA MAJOR is a magickal plant. I was TV channel surfing the other day & TBN Trinity Broadcasting Network had a wonderful nutritionist talking about Brain Fogs. Lately, my memory & physical well being have been slowly weakening with the ever increasing environmental pollution. Vitamins did practically nothing. But I listened about this little miracle plant & wrote down all ailments that this is supposed to alleviate like memory loss, stops decline of natural dopamine levels, promotes circulation to the brain, helps red blood cell count, reduces high blood pressure, stops stomach irritation, helps hearing problems by stopping ringing in the ears, improves eyesight & alleviates fatigue. Oh, the list goes on & on...

I bought the tincture, PERIWINKLE TINCTURE & guess what IT WORKS!!! After only three days, my Brain Fog lifted. It helped on every level. I used just a tiny eye drop tip full in my daily juice & it's a miracle MAGICKAL PLANT!!!

So here is more facts about VINCA MAJOR. The Greater Periwinkle is a fast growing, short to medium evergreen perennial, with beautiful flowers. Its arching stems can reach lengths of up to approximately 12 inches in height, but soon fall over & spread indefinitely, often rooting down at the tip. Its shiny, bright green leaves come in pairs, facing each other. They are approximately 2-3 inches long & oval shaped. Its truly fascinating flowers are bluish~violet or purplish, 1-2 inches across.

VINCA MAJOR grows in or near woodland, river banks & hedgerows. It is a widely cultivated, ornamental plant, but can be quite invasive, so caution should be exercised when introducing it to new areas. I'm going to be planting some of this amazing plant in my garden ASAP... Especially on my hillsides & slopes along side my Rosemary!

The Greater Periwinkle has strong medicinal properties & has been described as an incredibly complex alkaloid plant. According to 'Plants For A Future', the Greater Periwinkle is astringent, bitter, detergent, sedative, stomach & tonic. It contains the alkaloid 'Vincamine', which is used by the pharmaceutical industry as a cerebral stimulant & vasodilator. It also contains 'Reserpine', which reduces high blood pressure. It is used internally in the treatment of excessive menstruation, abnormal uterine bleeding, vaginal discharge & hardening of the arteries. It should not be given to patients with constipation because it can also be used as a mild laxative. It is applied externally to vaginal discharge, nosebleed, sore throat & mouth ulcers. Periwinkle can also be used to heal minor burns & skin eruptions & irritations.

The plants are cut when flowering & dried for later use. The fresh flowers are gently purgative, but lose their effect on drying. A homeopathic remedy is made from the fresh leaves, in tea form & can be used in the treatment of hemorrhages. The same source states that the stems are used in basket making. The plant makes a very good ground cover for covering steep banks, shady places & also (amazingly) drought areas spreading rapidly once established & forming a dense cover within 1 to 2 years. Which is exactly what I need on my slopes & hillsides as extra ground cover for erosion.

I bet VINCA MAJOR will probably be one of the future cures & or helpful medicinal plants for Alzheimer's Disease. After all, the medical doctors are attributing Alzheimer's to hardening of the arteries because of plaque build up. The Greater Periwinkle rids the body of plaque. The Bible states for every aliment known to man there is a plant & tree cure.

LYNDY'S MONTEREY POP FESTIVAL TRIVIA & MUCH MORE...

*1* Yes, I was at the Monterey Pop Festival. During the three day Monterey Pop Festival there were Renaissance Faire like festivities. Booths were set up with folk art, tied died everything, art jewelry, flowers & more. I even had a special perfume oil essential made from my own pheromones. A suave of my sweat with herbs & Egyptian oil all in a handy little double sized coke vial, LOL!

Actually, the Monterey Pop Festival is considered important in rock history, because it is the precursor to the legendary Woodstock festival held 2 years later.

This wasn't your typical music forum/auditorium Rock Concert. There were picnic tables with free food. Everything from fried chicken to people barbecuing their own hamburgers & franks. Free punch, beer & wine. Not to mention people passing around joints. Musicians mixed with their fans & jammed/played their guitars on blankets around the grassy fields together, very peaceful fun... What an amazing ROCK CONCERT!!!

*2* I got to see on stage live The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Jimi Hendrix's set ended with his explosive rendition of The Troggs 'Wild Thing' & Hendrix’s iconic act of burning his guitar on stage, then smashing it to bits & tossing pieces out to the delirious crowd who were watching Hendrix’s first ever American show.

*3* This was one of Janis Joplin's earliest performances with Big Brother & The Holding Company... AND I got to meet her & Jimi Hendrix in person. Janis had an infectious laugh & Jimi acted shy.

At the Monterey Pop Festival, Jimi Hendrix meets Janis Joplin & Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane.

*4* Steve Bartek was my high school sweetheart's best friend & he lived right around the corner from me. We went to college together & we're in some of the same music classes. He played with the Strawberry Alarm Clock & was the lead guitarist for Oingo Boingo. Now he's still a wonderful guitarist, film composer, conductor & orchestrator. He hung around with all the musicians of that era & was constantly dropping by with the guys from Steppenwolf, Three Dog Night, Sweetwater & the Jefferson Airplane, etc... Because we knew these guys/groups we got them to play for our Taft High School dances. We were just pals, so I never considered anyone like they were famous rock stars.

*5* I played & taught piano starting at age eleven & back then I even jammed with a lot of these cool cats. Just garage band fun & some studio fun, not to mention a few LA Coffee Houses. Oh, Steve & some his musician buddies even tipied my house (front yard) with around 50 rolls of toilet paper. I still owe him one for that, he he...

*6* Heck, we're even related to Cher, yep Cherilyn Sarkisian is her maiden name. That's my husband's Armenian Grandfather John Sarkisian & Cher's father, nobody liked him. Promised not to go there though, what a mess!!!

THIS IS THE STORY BEHIND THE REJECTION(S) OF ONE OF MOST FAMOUS AUTHOR'S OF CHILDREN'S BOOKS IN THE WORLD...

When the manuscript of Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone was finished, early in the New Year of 1996, Rowling visited Edinburgh Central Library to look up the Writers’ & Artists’ Year Book in search of a literary agent. Her first approach had been unsuccessful: a brief rejection letter. She then posted a sample of three chapters & a covering letter to Christopher Little Literary Agents, based in Fulham. It was here that a young reader, Bryony Evans, read the first chapter & laughed. Evans passed the chapters to Fleur Howle, a freelance reader, who agreed with her assessment & together they persuaded Little to sign up Rowling. A few days later Rowling received a letter asking for the remainder of the manuscript. The agency sent Rowling’s 200-page script to 12 publishers, all of whom, to their eternal regret, turned down the book. Harper Collins showed interest but was too slow in formulating a bid and so the first book by the most lucrative writer in the world was picked up by Bloomsbury for an advance of £1,500.

When Barry Cunningham, head of children’s fiction at Bloomsbury, invited Rowling to lunch in London, he praised her book but told her to be prepared as there was no financial reward in children’s books. Rowling did not care. To hold a hardback copy in her hand was reward enough. Yet prior to publication she would prove him wrong.

MISS FURY MARLA DRAKE
The Black Fury, later known as Miss Fury whose alter ego was wealthy socialite Marla Drake. Miss Fury was the first female superhero created by a female cartoonist Tarpé Mills. A character based loosely on Mills' own appearance & the artwork was created in a glamorous 1940s style. Miss Fury's crime fighting costume was a sexy tight black Leopard skin that covered her from head to toe.

The Bell Syndicate which handled Mutt & Jeff launched Miss Fury as a Sunday page on April 6th, 1941. The Miss Fury Sunday series ran until 1952. Marvel Comics reprinted her adventures in a series of eight comics published 1942 to 1946.

Tarpé Mills cat Perri-Purr had been introduced into the strip as Miss Fury's cat & became the unofficial mascot for the allied troops during World War II.

THE ORIGINAL BLACK CAT LINDA TURNER
The coolest super heroine of them all, Linda Turner alias The Black Cat! The Black Cat first appeared in Pocket Comics #1 September 1941. Published by Harvey Comics, created by Al Gabriele & the artist was Lee Elias. When most people think of Harvey Comics, they think of Casper 'The Friendly Ghost'.

RECOLLECTION: THE ORIGINAL BLACK CAT
In real life, Linda Turner 'The Black Cat' was of course, a Hollywood Movie Star. Linda was the daughter of silent film western actor Tim Turner & a former Hollywood stunt woman, who had successfully made the transition from stunt woman to lead actress. During the filming of a Hollywood movie, Linda suspects the film's director of being a Nazi spy. In order to follow him & gain corroborating evidence, she disguises herself in a backless blue blouse, red shorts, blue flared gloves, red buccaneer boots & a blue opera mask. Linda calls herself The Black Cat.

LATEST EDITION: THE BLACK CAT
The Black Cat became a series of 65 issues from 1946 through 1963. There are reissues ~ recollections The Original Black Cat Series Sets some printed in 1991. All comics original to reissues are worthy of their investments.

According to Scoop Comic's Newsletter, a Comics Guaranty 'CGC-certified 4.0 very good condition' copy of Action Comics #1 1938, the debut of Superman sold for $195,000 in May 2006. This out-priced the 2004 expensive comic book sale of a 'CGC-certified 9.4 near mint condition' copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 1962, containing Spider-Man’s first appearance, by more than $70,000.

This sexy feline is a fictional Marvel Comics anti-hero character that has been both a one time foe & ex-girlfriend of Spider Man. The Black Cat was created by writer Marv Wolfman & artist Keith Pollard. She first appeared in The Amazing Spider Man issue #194 July 1979. The Black Cat is a skilled reformed cat burglar who is a current crime fighter & adventurer.

MY TRIBUTE TO CHARLTON HESTON

Charlton Heston an American legend, Academy Award winning actor of film, theater, television & loyal patriot, passed away April 5th 2008 at the age of 84 after enduring several years battling Alzheimer's disease. Lydia, his wife of 64 years was beside him, as she had always been.

Charlton Heston is known for his spectacular movie portrayals of generals, saints, kings, American presidents, Moses & other amazing characters. He was also a huge supporter of civil rights, marching with Martin Luther King & JFK. He was a persona carved in stone on-screen & off, embodying a high-minded code.

The Washington Post stated: 'Charlton Heston was the hawk. He soared, his shoulders soared, his cheekbones soared, his brows soared, even his hair soared.'

I bet Chuck is soaring in heaven right now heading up a league of Angels to help those here on earth where ever there is a need.

My favorite memory of Charlton Heston was when he was our Taft High School's graduation commencement speaker. I was head of my senior class steering committee with my friend who's father's best friend was Charlton Heston. We begged Ben Hur himself, very little begging. Moses AKA Chuck was thrilled AND SO WERE WE!

On graduation day when Charlton Heston walked up to the podium & said in his booming voice 'Hello, I'm Charlton Heston,' I though to myself WOW this commencement will be etched in my memory like it was written in stone by Moses himself... How cool was that!!!

I have had no problems with Blogsites. I have had a few disenchanting experiences with a few eBay group members. I think many people have become disenchanted with various Internet groups. If one is outspoken like me & have strong feelings than one will get both the negative & positive responses. I refuse to be treated poorly, especially if I'm spending thousands of dollars on items from group members & than get slammed. So I feel Internet Blog websites can be a fun & safe place to be completely free from any negative responses because it's your own personal site.

Thank you for asking about my art book endeavors. It's been hard work, tons of time & I had to refinance my house to pay for the art & the amount of money I'll need to print & publish the book. I want this to be a beautiful art book with photos of all my favorite black cat art works from all my dear friends & talented artists. We have hired a wonderful artist to be the books page layout designer & at this time professional photos are being taken of each & every OOAK art work.

We are also still trying to get a special Internet website completed to help promote the art book & the artists. TODAYSGOLD PUBLICATIONS is still under construction because my husband insisted on a flashsite. This has been the hardest website to create, especially since we are the main developers.

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY

Saint Patrick was born 390 & was the son of a deacon & the grandson of a priest. After Patrick was snatched from England & sent to slavery in Ireland, he returned to England & was ordained a priest. He then went back to Ireland & evangelized the country while in Armagh.

From his own hand is the Confessio & the Letter to Coroticus, protesting the British slave trading. The famous 'Breastplate' "Lorica" in Latin "Praise of Christ" is his prayer.

The legends of his driving the snakes from Ireland & using a shamrock to explain the Trinity are later embellishments to his life. Saint Patrick is the patron of Ireland & Nigeria. In keeping with his legend, Saint Patrick is invoked against snakes.

This beautiful stained glass window of Saint Patrick can be found at the St. Boniface Catholic Church San Francisco. Saint Patrick is the co-patron of the city of San Francisco.
